Sieglinde Klettenhammer studied German and history in Innsbruck. She completed her doctorate with a dissertation on the reception of Georg Trakl in the newspapers and journals of his time. She subsequently worked as a research assistant and assistant professor at the Department of German Studies at the University of Innsbruck, where she completed her habilitation in 2002. Her research interests included Austrian literature of the early twentieth century and the contemporary period, as well as the relationship between literature and memory.
