Rufus Beck (born 1957) studied Islamic studies, philosophy and ethnology at Heidelberg University before becoming an actor. He worked at numerous German-speaking theatres, including Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspiel Köln and the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich. He was named Young Actor of the Year for his performance as Franz Moor in Schiller’s “The Robbers”. He also became known for films such as “The Moving Man”, “The Wild Soccer Bunch” and “The Robber Hotzenplotz”. As an audiobook narrator, he became particularly well known for his German recordings of the “Harry Potter” novels, which earned him seven gold and seven platinum records. Beck also worked as a director, author and narrator on several “Tabaluga” productions.
