Petra Gehring

Born in 1961, Petra Gehring took up a professorship in philosophy at Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2002. She studied philosophy, political science and law in Gießen, Marburg and Bochum, and taught and conducted research at the universities of Bochum and Hagen. Her research focuses include the history and metaphysics of the concept of life, technology studies, metaphorology and theories of reality. She was a fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Her publications include “Was ist Biomacht? Vom zweifelhaften Mehrwert des Lebens” (2006), “Traum und Wirklichkeit. Zur Geschichte einer Unterscheidung” (2008) and “Theorien des Todes zur Einführung” (2010).
