Peter Ufer (born 1964 in Dresden) is a journalist and author who holds a doctorate. After completing an apprenticeship as a typesetter, he studied media studies and history in Leipzig. During the period of German reunification, he founded his own newspaper. From 1993 onward, he worked as an editor and later as a senior editor for the Sächsische Zeitung; he also wrote for the newspaper and worked with the MDR broadcaster. Ufer has published numerous books on Saxon language, culture, and history, including the five-volume dictionary “Der Große Gogelmosch.” With Tom Pauls, he co-authored books including “Deutschland, deine Sachsen” and “Meine Lene,” and co-founded a theater in Pirna.
