Axel Hacke, born in 1956 in Braunschweig, is a writer and journalist. From 1981 to 2000, he worked as a reporter and “Streiflicht” contributor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He has published numerous books, including The Little Parenting Guide, On Decency in Difficult Times and How We Treat One Another, Wozu wir da sind, and Im Bann des Eichelhechts; his works have been translated into numerous languages. His awards include the Joseph Roth Prize, the Egon Erwin Kisch Prize, which he received twice, the Theodor Wolff Prize, and the Ben Witter Prize in 2019.
