Paul Kalanithi

Paul Kalanithi was a neurosurgeon and author. He studied English literature and biology, as well as the history of science and philosophy, before graduating from Yale School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgical training at Stanford University and conducted postdoctoral research there. For his scientific work, he received the American Academy of Neurological Surgery’s highest award for an early-career researcher. Kalanithi died in 2015 at the age of 37 while working on his book.
