Michael Fisch

Michael Fisch, born in 1964 in Gerolstein in the Eifel, is a German literary scholar and writer. He earned his doctorate with a study of Hubert Fichte. From 2008 to 2011, he taught in Tunis and subsequently conducted research at the Department of Semitic and Arabic Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. From 2012 to 2018, he was a visiting professor in Cairo, after which he succeeded to the Walter Benjamin Chair of German-Jewish Literary and Cultural Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Fisch is also the author of the multi-volume narrative cycle Eine Neue Welt, whose first volumes, khamsa (2009) and plural (2013), have been published.
