Maren Lorenz (born 1965) is a historian. She studied history, political science, and psychology and worked as a professor of early modern history and gender history at Ruhr University Bochum. Her academic teaching appointments included, among others, Washington, D.C., Vienna, Basel, and Toronto. Her publications include “Leibhaftige Vergangenheit. Einführung in die Körpergeschichte” (2000), “Kriminelle Körper – Gestörte Gemüter” (1999), and “Das Rad der Gewalt. Militär und Zivilbevölkerung in Norddeutschland nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg. 1650–1700” (2007).
