Albrecht Classen

Albrecht Classen received his doctorate in medieval literature from the University of Virginia in 1986. In 1987, he began teaching at the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he worked as a professor of German studies with a focus on medieval literature. His research included comparative medieval studies, women’s studies, and European folk songs. He published numerous scholarly books and articles and edited academic journals. His distinctions included the German Order of Merit, awarded to him among other honors. Alongside his academic work, Classen wrote poetry; his first volume of satire appeared in 2018.
