Hildegund Keul is a theologian, religious studies scholar and Germanist. She studied in Trier, Jerusalem and Würzburg and completed her habilitation at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg with a study of the mystic Mechthild of Magdeburg. Among other distinctions, she received the Karl Rahner Prize for Theological Research. Her academic work focuses on vulnerability, the power to inflict harm and resilience, as well as issues of abuse and concealment.
