Klaus Kastberger

Klaus Kastberger, born in 1963 in Gmunden, Austria, studied German and history at the University of Vienna. From 1996 to 2015, he worked as a researcher at the Austrian Literature Archive of the Austrian National Library and was a lecturer at the University of Vienna. In 2015, he became professor of modern German-language literature at the Franz Nabl Institute of the University of Graz and director of Literaturhaus Graz. Kastberger has published extensively on Austrian and German-language literature of the 20th and 21st centuries and worked as a literary critic for outlets including ORF, Die Presse and Falter. His books include “Reinschrift des Lebens. Friederike Mayröckers Reise durch die Nacht” (2000) and “Vom Eigensinn des Schreibens” (2007).
