Gerhard Fritsch (1924–1969) was an Austrian writer, literary critic, and librarian. After returning from the Second World War, he studied history and German literature and initially worked as a publishing editor and librarian. From 1958 onward, he worked as a freelance writer and literary critic. Fritsch published several volumes of poetry and received numerous literary awards. His best-known works include the novels “Moos auf den Steinen” (1956) and “Fasching” (1967). The novel “Katzenmusik” was published in 1974, five years after his death.
