Jonathan Safran Foer (born 1977) is an American novelist, essayist, and screenwriter. He studied philosophy and literature at Princeton University, graduating in 1999. His debut novel, *Everything Is Illuminated*, received several awards, including the National Jewish Book Award, the Guardian First Book Prize, and the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize. His other novels include *Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close* and *Here I Am*. His nonfiction includes *Eating Animals* (2009) and *We Are the Weather* (2019). His books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
