Henning Ahrens (born 1964 in Peine, Germany) has published poetry, novels, and books for children and young adults. His works include the novels *Lauf Jäger lauf*, *Langsamer Walzer*, *Tiertage*, *Glantz und Gloria*, and *Mitgift*, as well as the poetry collections *Lieblied was kommt*, *Stoppelbrand*, and *Kein Schlaf in Sicht*. He has also translated numerous works from English, including books by Saul Bellow, Jonathan Safran Foer, Hanif Kureishi, Khaled Hosseini, and Richard Powers. Ahrens studied English, history, and art history in Göttingen, London, and Kiel, completing a doctorate on the life-philosophical writings of John Cowper Powys. His literary honors include the Wolfgang Weyrauch Promotional Award, the Friedrich Hebbel Prize, and the Nicolas Born Prize. He published some young-adult books under the pseudonym John Henry Eagle.
