Ingo Herzke

Ingo Herzke (born 1966 in Alfeld an der Leine, Germany) studied Classical Philology, English and History in Göttingen and Glasgow. From 1998 onward, he worked as a literary translator, translating works by authors including A. L. Kennedy, Alan Bennett, Paula Fox, Nick Hornby, A. M. Homes, Gary Shteyngart and Joshua Cohen from English into German. He received the Hamburg sponsorship prize for literary translation in 2001 and 2006, as well as the Youth Jury Prize of the German Youth Literature Prize. His other honors include the Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt Prize (2021) and the Hamburg Literature Prize (2023).
