Johannes Dillinger, born in Saarlouis in 1968, is a German historian. He studied history, Catholic theology and education in Tübingen and Norwich and worked as a university lecturer in history in Oxford and Mainz. His research has focused on the history of the premodern period, peasant and rural history, systems of political representation and state formation, colonialism, confessionalization, magic, witch hunts and political crime.
