Wolfgang Behringer

Wolfgang Behringer, born in Munich in 1956, studied history, political science and German literature and completed his doctorate on witch hunts in Bavaria. From 1999 to 2003, he was a professor in York, England, and subsequently served as a professor of early modern history at Saarland University in Saarbrücken until 2022. His research has focused on witch hunts, the history of crime, aviation and communication, and climate history. His books include Witches: Faith, Persecution, Marketing and Tambora and the Year Without a Summer.
