Jochen Malmsheimer, born in Essen in 1961, is a cabaret performer and author. He studied German and history before abandoning his degree and completing an apprenticeship as a bookseller. He began his cabaret career as one half of the duo Tresenlesen with Frank Goosen and also performed solo from 2000 onward. His best-known programs include “Flieg Fisch, lies und gesunde,” “Ich bin kein Tag für eine Nacht,” “Wenn Worte reden könnten,” and “Dogensuppe Herzogin – ein Austopf mit Einlage.” Malmsheimer received several awards, including the German Small Arts Prize in 2009 and the Bavarian Cabaret Prize in 2012. He also made regular television appearances as the caretaker on the ZDF program “Neues aus der Anstalt.”
