Sibylle Berg was born in Weimar and holds Swiss citizenship. She studied, among other subjects, oceanography and political science at the University of Hamburg. Berg published novels, plays, essays, columns and radio dramas, and edited several books. Her debut novel, »Ein paar Leute suchen das Glück und lachen sich tot«, was published in 1997. Her notable works include »Vielen Dank für das Leben«, »Der Mann schläft«, »GRM/Brainfuck« and »RCE«. Berg received, among other honors, the Wolfgang Koeppen Prize, the Kassel Literature Prize for Grotesque Humor, the Nestroy Prize, the Swiss Book Prize, the Grand Prix Literatur, the Bertolt Brecht Prize and the Johann Peter Hebel Prize. Her works have been translated into numerous languages.
