Alan Bennett

Alan Bennett, born in Leeds in 1934, is a British playwright, author and screenwriter. He became known through the comedy revue “Beyond the Fringe” and the monologues broadcast by the BBC in 1987 under the title “Talking Heads”. He wrote numerous plays and worked for television and radio, including a stage adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s children’s classic “The Wind in the Willows”. From the mid-1990s onward, Bennett also wrote prose, including the novel “The Uncommon Reader”.
