Ina Kronenberger

Ina Kronenberger, born in 1965 in Otterberg in the Palatinate, studied Romance and Scandinavian languages and literature in Mainz and Freiburg after extended stays abroad in Paris and Israel. From 1993 onward, she worked as a freelance literary translator from French and Norwegian, focusing mainly on fiction and books for children and young adults. Authors she translated include Anna Gavalda, Virginie Despentes, Per Petterson, Linn Ullmann, Nina Lykke and Dag Solstad. In 2010, she received the German Youth Literature Prize for her translation of Stian Hole’s picture book “Garmans Sommer”; in 2012, she was included on the IBBY Honour List. She also taught literary translation as a guest lecturer at the universities of Göttingen and Greifswald.
