Anna Gavalda, born in 1970 in Boulogne-Billancourt near Paris, is a French writer. She studied literature in Paris and initially worked as a French teacher before turning to writing. In 1999, she published the short-story collection “I Wish Someone Were Waiting for Me Somewhere,” which became a surprise success and received the Grand Prix RTL-Lire in 2000. Her best-known works include the novels “I Loved Her” and “Hunting and Gathering.” The latter was adapted for film in 2007, with Audrey Tautou in a leading role. Gavalda also wrote the children’s book “35 Kilos of Hope.”
