Gerda Marie Scheidl

Gerda Marie Scheidl (1913–2005) was a German author of children’s books and plays. She studied dance at the Hellerau-Laxenburg school near Vienna, received acting training, and initially worked at the Stadttheater Bremerhaven and the Dortmund Opera. She later studied philosophy and art history, wrote children’s books and plays, and worked in radio and television. She also ran a private children’s theater. Her best-known works include The Four Lights of the Shepherd Simon, Miriam’s Gift, and A Donkey Goes to Bethlehem.
