Max Bolliger

Max Bolliger (1929–2013) was a Swiss writer and educator. After qualifying as a teacher, he taught at village schools and later studied special education and psychology. He worked as a special educator in Luxembourg and for ten years as a special-needs teacher in Adliswil near Zurich. From 1968, Bolliger worked as a freelance writer and was involved in early children’s programs for Swiss television. He also taught children’s and young adult literature at the Zurich teacher-training college until 1994. After initially publishing poetry and prose for adults in the 1950s, he turned to children’s and young adult literature. One of his best-known works is “Stummel – Ein Hasenkind wird groß.” His work also focused on short stories and retellings of biblical texts.
