Christopher Balme

Christopher Balme, born in 1957, is a German theatre scholar. He received his doctorate from the University of Otago in New Zealand and completed his habilitation at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU) in 1993, where he was appointed professor of theatre studies in 2006. Balme has served as editor of the journal Forum Modernes Theater and as president of the German Society for Theatre Studies.
