Christoph Hesse is a scholar of film and literature and a translator. He studied film and television studies, German studies, and philosophy in Bochum, earning a doctorate with a dissertation on formalist film theory. Hesse worked, among other places, at the Freie Universität Berlin and the Leibniz Centre for Contemporary Literature in Berlin. His publications include “Filmform und Fetisch” (2006), “Filmstile” (2016, with Oliver Keutzer, Roman Mauer, and Gregory Mohr), “Filmexil Sowjetunion” (2017), and “Schiffbruch beim Spagat. Wirres aus Geist und Gesellschaft” (2022, with Dirk Braunstein). He also co-edited “Briefe an Bertolt Brecht im Exil” (2014), among other volumes.
