Christiane Kuby (born 1952 in Frankfurt am Main) studied Romance languages and German at the University of Amsterdam. She worked for the German-language Castrum Peregrini foundation and for Dutch literary and feminist journals. Since the 1990s, she has translated literary and scholarly works from Dutch and Flemish into German, including novels by Kader Abdolah, Jeroen Brouwers, Carl Friedman, Erwin Mortier and Nescio. Her translation of Erwin Mortier’s *Götterschlaf* received the Else Otten Prize in 2012; in 2015, she was awarded the Martinus Nijhoff Prize for her complete body of translation work.
