Christian Enzensberger

Christian Enzensberger (1931–2009) was a German scholar of English literature, translator, and writer. He was a professor of English literary history at the University of Munich. He became known for works including Größerer Versuch über den Schmutz (1968) and Literatur und Interesse. Eine politische Ästhetik (1977). His notable translations included Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, both published in German in 1963. His poetry collection Eins nach dem anderen. Gedichte in Prosa was published posthumously in 2010.
