Axel Prahl, born in 1960 in Eutin, is a German actor, musician, audiobook narrator and voice actor. After studying mathematics and music for several semesters at the University of Education in Kiel, he transferred to its acting school and initially worked in theatre. He became widely known as Chief Inspector Frank Thiel in the Münster-based television series “Tatort,” a role he has played since 2002. Prahl has worked with director Andreas Dresen on films including “Night Shapes,” “Grill Point” and “Willenbrock.” His numerous awards include the Grimme Award, the Golden Camera, the Bambi and the Bavarian Film Award. In 2011, he released his first album with his band Inselorchester, featuring lyrics written by him.
