Michael Kobr (born 1973 in Kempten, Germany) studied German and Romance languages and literature in Erlangen before working as a secondary-school teacher. In 2003, he and his school friend Volker Klüpfel published “Milchgeld,” the first crime novel featuring Bavarian detective Kluftinger. The series became a major success. Together they also wrote “In der ersten Reihe sieht man Meer,” the thriller “Draußen,” and “Die Unverbesserlichen.” Kobr’s first solo crime series began with “Sonne über Gudhjem,” set on the Danish island of Bornholm and featuring investigator Lennart Ipsen. Kobr and Klüpfel have received several awards for their work, including the Corine and the Bavarian Culture Prize.
