Adriana Altaras, born in Zagreb in 1960, studied acting at the Berlin University of the Arts and New York University. From 1983 onward, she appeared in numerous film and television productions and, from the 1990s, also worked as a director at German theater and opera houses. Her books include »Titos Brille« (2012), »Doitscha – Eine jüdische Mutter packt aus« (2014), »Das Meer und ich waren im besten Alter« (2017), »Die jüdische Souffleuse« (2018), and »Besser allein als in schlechter Gesellschaft« (2023). Her honors include the German Federal Film Award, the Theater Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Silver Bear for Best Acting at the 2000 Berlin International Film Festival, and the German Audiobook Award in 2024.
