Michel Bergmann was born in Switzerland in 1945 to Jewish parents, or as the child of Jewish refugees. He spent his childhood in Paris and his youth in Frankfurt am Main. After training at the »Frankfurter Rundschau«, he worked as a journalist and later as a film and television producer, director, and screenwriter. His screenwriting credits include »Otto – Der Katastrofenfilm« and »Es war einmal in Deutschland ...«. His first novel, »Die Teilacher«, was published in 2010, followed by further novels including »Herr Klee und Herr Feld« and »Weinhebers Koffer«. Bergmann also published a trilogy about Jewish life in postwar Frankfurt and wrote the series featuring Rabbi and investigator Henry Silberbaum.
