Myriam Halberstam

Myriam Halberstam was born in New York and grew up in Germany. She studied theater directing and art history in New York, then worked in Israel in film and television productions, as a print journalist for the Jerusalem Post, and in the Middle East bureau of ABC News. She later completed a postgraduate diploma in film and television directing at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne and directed television documentaries for broadcasters including WDR, ZDF, arte, hr, NDR, and 3sat. Halberstam has also worked as an author and translator. In 2010, she founded Ariella Verlag, a publishing house specializing in Jewish children's and young adult literature; it received the German Publishers' Prize in 2020.
