Wolfgang Huber

Wolfgang Huber (born 1942) is a German Protestant theologian. He studied in Heidelberg, Göttingen and Tübingen, received his doctorate in 1966 and completed his habilitation in systematic theology at Heidelberg. He taught, among other places, in Marburg and Heidelberg and served as a bishop in Berlin from 1994 to 2009. From 2003 to 2009, he was chair of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany and was a member of the German Ethics Council. Huber received, among other honors, the Max Friedländer Prize, the Karl Barth Prize and the Reuchlin Prize. A noted scholar of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, he played a leading role in the new edition of the “Dietrich Bonhoeffer Works.”
