Joseph Ratzinger

Joseph Ratzinger (1927–2022) was a German theologian and Catholic cleric. Ordained a priest in 1951, he taught Catholic theology in Freising, Bonn, Münster, Tübingen, and Regensburg. He served as a theological adviser to the Second Vatican Council. In 1977 he became Archbishop of Munich and Freising, and in 1981 Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. From 2005 to 2013, he was pope of the Catholic Church under the name Benedict XVI. His best-known works include the book trilogy “Jesus of Nazareth.”
