Ulrike Wasel, born in 1955 in Bergneustadt, Germany, studied English, American and Romance studies, including in Düsseldorf. Together with Klaus Timmermann, she translates Anglo-American literature; since 1991, they have worked professionally as a literary translation team. Their authors in German translation include Dave Eggers, Tana French, Zadie Smith, Harper Lee and Delia Owens, among others. In 2012, Wasel and Timmermann received the international Albatros Literature Prize of the Günter Grass Foundation Bremen together with Dave Eggers for their translation of his novel “Zeitoun”.
