Klaus Timmermann

Klaus Timmermann, born in Bocholt in 1955, studied English and French in Düsseldorf for a teaching career at upper-secondary level. During his studies, he began translating with Ulrike Wasel; from 1991 onward, they worked as a full-time literary translation team. They translated works by authors including Dave Eggers, Tana French, Harper Lee, Zadie Smith, Delia Owens, and Bonnie Garmus into German. In 2012, Timmermann and Wasel, together with Dave Eggers, received the international Albatros Literature Prize of the Günter Grass Foundation Bremen for their translation of his novel Zeitoun.
