Thomas Karlauf

Thomas Karlauf was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1955. After completing secondary school, he went to Amsterdam and worked for ten years for the literary journal Castrum Peregrini. From 1984 to 1996, he was an editor at the publishing houses Siedler and Rowohlt; he subsequently worked as a literary agent. His publications include the biographies Stefan George: Die Entdeckung des Charisma (2007), Stauffenberg: Porträt eines Attentäters, and Helmut Schmidt: Die späten Jahre (2016). Stauffenberg received the awards “Historical Book of the Year” and “Biography of the Year” in the DAMALS book competition.
