Stefan Oster

Stefan Oster SDB, born in 1965 in Amberg, Bavaria, is a theologian and Salesian priest. After training as a newspaper and radio editor, he studied philosophy, history and religious studies, including in Regensburg, Kiel and Oxford. He completed his habilitation in Trier in 2009 and taught dogmatic theology at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Benediktbeuern. He was ordained Bishop of Passau in 2014. In 2016, the German Bishops’ Conference elected him chair of its Commission for Youth.
