Georgios Vlantis

Georgios Vlantis was born in Athens, Greece, and studied theology and philosophy of religion there and in Munich. From 2009 to 2011, he was academic director of the Orthodox Academy of Crete, and until 2016 he worked as a research associate at the institution for Orthodox theology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. In 2016, he became managing director of the Council of Christian Churches in Bavaria, the first Orthodox Christian to hold the position. Vlantis has published numerous articles on Orthodox systematic theology, philosophy of religion and ecumenical dialogue. He has also translated theological works from three languages into Greek, including Karl Barth’s “Romans 1922.”
