Rebecca Maskos

Rebecca Maskos is a psychologist with a doctorate and a journalist. After completing a traineeship at Radio Bremen, she worked as a freelance journalist and scholar in Disability Studies. In 2023, she completed her doctorate on internalized ableism and wheelchair use. She was closely associated with the disability rights movement, led projects on violence against disabled women and girls, helped establish the online project Leidmedien.de, and edited disability-policy magazines. In 2023, she co-authored the book »Bist du behindert oder was?« with Mareice Kaiser. She first encountered the term “ableism” while studying in the United States in 2001.
