Ralph Tharayil was born in Switzerland in 1986 to Indian immigrant parents. He studied history, media studies and literary studies in Basel, and worked as an author, theatre artist and musician as well as a copywriter in advertising agencies in Hamburg. His work has included prose, poetry, radio pieces and texts for performances and audio formats. He received several awards, including the prose prize at the 25th open mike. His literary debut, *Nimm die Alpen weg*, was published by Edition Azur in 2023.
