Pablo Picasso

Pablo Ruiz Picasso (1881–1973) was a painter, printmaker, and sculptor born in Málaga, Spain. His extensive body of work included paintings, drawings, prints, collages, sculptures, and ceramics. Picasso worked in Paris from 1904 and is regarded as one of the most important artists of the 20th century. He was one of the founders of Cubism. Among his best-known works are *Les Demoiselles d’Avignon* and *Guernica* (1937), which was created in response to the destruction of the Spanish Civil War. Picasso died in Mougins, France.
