Oliver Rathkolb

Oliver Rathkolb (born 1955) is an Austrian contemporary historian. He studied law and history and earned doctorates in law and history. Rathkolb was a professor and head of the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna, where he held a professorship from 2006 to 2024. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Bruno Kreisky Archive and the Bruno Kreisky Forum. He published extensively on Austrian and European contemporary, cultural and media history and edited the journal „zeitgeschichte“. His book „Die paradoxe Republik“ received the 2005 Donauland Sachbuchpreis Danubius and the Bruno Kreisky Prize for the Political Book.
