Christian Lackner

Christian Lackner, born in 1960 in Spittal an der Drau, Austria, studied history and French at the University of Innsbruck from 1978 to 1983 and earned his doctorate there in 1985. From 1983 to 1986, he completed a training course at the Institute for Austrian Historical Research in Vienna. In 2001, he completed his habilitation in Austrian history and auxiliary sciences of history at the University of Vienna. In 2010, he was appointed professor of auxiliary sciences of history, with a focus on the Middle Ages, at the University of Vienna. His research and publications address medieval Austrian history, the history of universities and education, diplomatics, and palaeography.
