Michael Tilly

Michael Tilly (born 1963) is a Protestant theologian and scholar of Judaism. He received his doctorate in 1993 and completed his habilitation in 2001. His academic career included work as a research associate at the University of Pretoria, a professorship in New Testament and biblical didactics in Landau (2007–2012), and, from 2012, a professorship in New Testament and the directorship of the Institute for Ancient Judaism and Hellenistic Religious History at the University of Tübingen. His research focuses include New Testament history, ancient Bible translations, and anthropology and ethics in ancient Judaism and early Christianity. He has published numerous scholarly books, articles, and encyclopedia entries and has edited works on Flavius Josephus and Julius Höxter, among others.
