Michael Hametner was born in Rostock. In the 1970s, he began working as a literary, theatre and radio-play critic. He later headed the literature department of MDR radio for many years. From 2015 onward, his “Ateliergespräche,” conversations with contemporary artists, were published by Mitteldeutscher Verlag.
