Thomas Anz, born in Göttingen in 1948, is a German literary scholar. He studied modern German literature, linguistics and sociology in Munich and subsequently worked, among other roles, as a feuilleton editor at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and as a professor of modern German literature at the universities of Bamberg and Marburg. In 2010, he founded the Arbeitsstelle Marcel Reich-Ranicki für Literaturkritik in Deutschland at the University of Marburg. Anz published scholarly works, literary criticism and essays, including books on Franz Kafka, Expressionism and Marcel Reich-Ranicki. He edited the online journal »literaturkritik.de« and administered Reich-Ranicki’s literary estate.
