Matthias Marschik

Matthias Marschik (born 1957) studied psychology and philosophy in Vienna and completed his habilitation in contemporary history in Linz. A historian and cultural studies scholar, he taught at the universities of Vienna, Salzburg and Klagenfurt. Marschik has published numerous books and essays on cultural, everyday and popular history, particularly on sport, motoring, and local and regional history. His publications include “Die Donauwiese. Das Inundationsgebiet – Ein verschwundenes Wiener Wahrzeichen” and, with Michaela Pfundner, “Wiener Bilder. Fotografien von Lothar Rübelt”.
