Maria Hummitzsch

Maria Hummitzsch, born in Magdeburg in 1982, studied translation, psychology and African studies in Leipzig, Lisbon and Florianópolis. From 2011 onward, she worked as a literary translator from English and Portuguese. Authors whose works she translated include David Foster Wallace, David Garnett, Shani Boianjiu and Beatriz Bracher. From 2017 to 2021, Hummitzsch served as deputy chair of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scholarly Works (VdÜ). In 2015, she co-founded the Translation Centre at the Leipzig Book Fair.
